Castleview Wychwood Towers provides individualized care to each of its 456 residents. City-operated homes provide 24-hour care including nursing and personal care, medical services, recreational programming, dietetics and food services, laundry, social work, spiritual and religious care, and housekeeping.

Behavioural support programs serve people with dementia, delirium and mental health needs, with staff and medical professionals who develop individualized care strategies for each resident.

A short-stay respite program supports families seeking a break from the caregiver role for up to 60 continuous days, to a maximum of 90 days per year.

One unit is set aside for 37 residents who are at risk of exit seeking.

Rooms & living spaces

Semi-private accommodation with two residents per room is provided for 80 residents on each of five resident home areas, and all resident bedrooms are served by central air conditioning.

Washrooms, the dining room, a servery and lounge areas are centrally located.

Everyday life

The home serves a multi-cultural resident population, including Japanese- and Korean-Canadian communities, and has partnerships with Japanese, Jewish, Korean and Portuguese groups.

Families can take part through resident care conferences, Family Council, satisfaction surveys and volunteer services. The home is a smoke-free environment.

The main floor has an auditorium, worship centre, rehabilitation room, library, computer room, hair salon and a volunteer-run tuck shop.
