Woodside at Friendship Village offers assisted living suites, and a memory care program provides a whole-person approach to Alzheimer's and dementia care.
The Medicare Health Center provides recuperative and long-term skilled nursing care overseen by an in-house medical director.
The Rehabilitation Center offers physical, occupational and speech therapy, orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation, and pain management. It serves residents and non-residents, and outpatient rehab is also available.
Rehabilitation suites are all private, with Wi-Fi and a private phone line, and services include assistance with daily living activities and medication management.
Rooms & living spaces
Village Apartments are one- and two-bedroom independent living residences, with sample floor plans from 552 to 776 square feet.
Freestanding Garden Homes have granite countertops, stainless appliances, a washer and dryer, no-step entrances and a 1.5 car attached garage. Sample floor plans range from 1,300 to 1,800 square feet.
Everyday life
Independent living services include all utilities except telephone and wireless internet, extended basic cable, twice-monthly housekeeping, trash removal, maintenance, groundskeeping and snow removal.
Weekly transportation goes to medical and financial appointments in the Kalamazoo and Portage area and to shopping and churches. Chaplain services are offered.
Dining & meals
The community has two dining spaces. A Cafe overlooking the central courtyard gardens serves breakfast and lunch, and the Dining Room serves lunch and dinner.
Seven entrees are served daily in the Dining Room, with themed menu features during the month. Meals can be delivered to a residence, and a takeout window is available.
Activities & connection
Activities include fitness classes, volunteer opportunities, trips to local cultural and entertainment attractions, on-campus theater productions, woodworking and arts and crafts classes.
Shared spaces & amenities
Independent living residents have membership in the Fitness and Aquatic Centers and use of the Village Clubhouse, which has indoor and outdoor gathering areas, a game room and a classroom. Pets are welcome and guest accommodations are available.
Location & getting around
The campus is minutes from Western Michigan University. Shopping, dining, parks, golf, the Kal Haven Trail and downtown Kalamazoo are all minutes away.
