Residents can take social leaves for family outings and holidays of up to 21 days a year, and polls are set up in the home at election times.

Dining & meals

Meals are prepared fresh in-house with an alternative option always available, and breakfast, lunch and supper are served in the dining room. The menu rotates on a 4-week cycle.

A dietitian visits weekly to learn each resident’s dietary preferences and needs, and a monthly resident’s choice meal is decided by vote at Resident Council.

Activities & connection

The Recreation Department assesses each resident and builds a care plan, and it posts a monthly calendar on each floor with events, group programs and seasonal activities.

Large group activities include sing-alongs, baking, entertainment, birthday parties, exercises, bocce ball, shuffle bowl and movie nights, while small group programs include crafts, reminiscing, crosswords and brain teasers.

One-to-one recreation time is offered, musicians from Artists in Healthcare Manitoba visit regularly, and pet therapy visits are scheduled with St. John Ambulance. A Resident Council meets every second month.
