Birdee Cottage Assisted Living & Memory Care

For assisted living, team members are available 24 hours a day to help with bathing, dressing, medication reminders, and other personal-care or wellness needs.

The home is fully secured and licensed for memory care.

Memory care staff are trained to value each resident as an individual and recognize preferences and needs, including for dementia and other forms of memory loss.

An Allen Hospital team visits the home and helps prepare individualized service plans. Other health supports include a nurse on call, physical therapy, medication management, blood pressure and heart monitoring, incontinence assistance, and wearable and in-room or bathroom health alerts.

Room choices are studio and deluxe studio apartments. Deluxe studios have more square feet and a double vanity, and are available for single or double occupancy.

Every apartment has a kitchenette, private bathroom with a walk-in shower and grab bars, and individual climate control. Some suites have a microwave and compact refrigerator; listed features also include an in-apartment call system, television service, internet, and window blinds.

Resident services include weekly housekeeping and linen and personal laundry service.

Daily dining includes home-cooked lunch and dinner, continental breakfast, snacks, and all-day coffee. A consulting dietitian is listed.

Special diets are accommodated.

A meal prepared by Birdee Cottage for a resident's family member or friend may carry an additional charge.

Daily fitness and activities are offered, with planned activities, a piano, animal visits, and raised flower beds among the options.

Shared indoor spaces include a sitting area by the kitchen, a dining room and kitchen, a multipurpose living room, and a salon.

Additional fees may apply for medical equipment or supplies and for private aides beyond the 24-hour staff.

The home has 36-inch doorways.

Birdee Cottage is in Waterloo. Residents needing rides will need a separate transportation service.
