The Hamlets at Vernon is a seniors' living community in downtown Vernon, British Columbia, offering independent living, assisted living, age in place and long-term care. Care & support
Assisted living residents have wellness options as their needs change, including help with bathing, medications, daily nursing care and companion services.
Long-term care residents each have an individualized care plan reflecting their interests, history and family situation.
Emergency support is available 24 hours a day through certified care staff and the Tunstall system, and a wellness clinic and programs are offered.
Publicly funded suites begin with a referral from the funding body, while private pay suites can be accessed directly.
Rooms & living spaces
Suites are studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom layouts, with room for residents' own belongings.
Each suite has a kitchenette with a refrigerator and microwave, window coverings, a safety-equipped bathroom and individually controlled heating.
Suites have smoke and heat detectors, sprinklers and an emergency call bell system.
Everyday life
Basic cable, utilities, weekly housekeeping and flat linen service are included. WiFi, phone and personal laundry are available for a fee.

The community serves three meals a day and snacks. Residents have a continental breakfast and two meals together in a large central dining room.
Food is prepared fresh daily on site by Red Seal chefs, and menus are based on the Canada Food Guide and approved by a dietician. Allergies and dietary restrictions are accommodated.
A private dining room is available for meals with visiting family and friends, and in-room kitchenettes are available.
Activities & connection
Activities include organized outings and bus trips, fitness programs, intergenerational programs, live entertainment, movie nights, music therapy and sing-alongs.
Residents can also enjoy games nights, Wii games, bingo, crafts and art classes, high tea and pet therapy.
Shared spaces & amenities
Amenities include lounges and social spaces, an outdoor courtyard, a third-floor patio with a view, an in-house hairdressing salon and religious services and spiritual support.
Buses are provided for recreation and scheduled trips.
Location & getting around
The Hamlets at Vernon is in Vernon's downtown core, in the centre of the Okanagan Valley, near Okanagan Lake, Kalamalka Lake and Swan Lake.
Nearby are Sawicki Millenium Park and the Allan Brooks Nature Centre, which has guided outdoor tours on the grassland.
