Care & support
Registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and registered psychiatric nurses assess residents and develop care plans. Continuing Care Assistants help with day-to-day care within assigned neighbourhoods.
Sunnyside describes a care conference about a month after move-in, bringing the resident, a support person and members of the care team together. An annual care review follows.
Physiotherapists and occupational therapists assess residents; a physiotherapy assistant carries out therapy five days a week. Services include walking and range-of-motion exercises, supervised equipment exercises, seating and wheelchair support, and pressure-injury prevention.
A mobile dentist and hygienist provide dental care, and a foot-care nurse is listed for monthly visits. Sunnyside says residents pay the usual dental and foot-care fees.
Spiritual care includes worship for different denominations, hymn sings, Bible study, prayer meetings and memorial services.
Rooms & living spaces
Sunnyside lists 33 private rooms and 32 semi-private rooms; two residents share each semi-private room. It says roommates are matched by gender and similar interests.
Rooms come with a bed, closet, nightstand, wall shelving, over-bed table, visitor chair and TV. Residents can personalize their space, but room space is limited to allow for care equipment.
Everyday life
Sunnyside is divided into three neighborhoods intended to foster ongoing relationships between residents and care partners. It says residents’ daily rhythms are honored, with breakfast ready when they wake.
For medical appointments, the day clerk can arrange transportation that is billed to the resident. Sunnyside says hospital transfers use an ambulance, also at the resident’s expense; families should confirm current arrangements and charges.
Dining & meals
The six-week menu follows the Canadian Food Guide and is revised twice a year with residents’ and families’ input. The kitchen serves three meals and snacks daily to meet individual nutritional needs.
Pork and some seafood are not served. Special diets are provided when needed for medical reasons.
Residents can use individualized utensils to eat at their own pace. Volunteers provide background piano music at Tuesday and Thursday supper.
Activities & connection
Social and recreation services run seven days a week, including holidays. Good Morning Sunnyside brings residents together for coffee, newspaper reading, music and conversation.
Weekly seated exercise focuses on range of motion, flexibility, strength and balance. Weekly games include board games, dice, cards and bingo.
A spring gardening group plants flowers and vegetables in pots, patio planters and a strawberry patch. Monthly live entertainment features performers from the community.
Shared spaces & amenities
Families can use a multi-purpose room for celebrations and a lounge for small gatherings. Building Wi-Fi is available on the Saskatchewan Health Authority visitor network at no charge; Sunnyside notes that the network is very slow.
Residents can use a kitchenette to prepare food, and the home describes a fire pit and walks in the courtyard. The dining room looks toward the South Saskatchewan River.

Community FAQs
These answers summarize published source information. Confirm what matters for your situation directly.
How are private rooms assigned?
There is a waiting list, and requests are kept in a resident database. Moves follow the list’s sequence, though circumstances may lead to a temporary or permanent placement that bypasses the list.
When can family visit, and are video visits available?
Sunnyside’s visitor information lists 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily, and says its recreation team can arrange FaceTime visits. Confirm the current arrangements before making plans.
How can family get an update if they cannot visit?
Families can call the resident if they have a telephone, or call the nurses on duty for an update.
How are medication and hair-care charges handled?
Medications are provided by Willow Grove Pharmacy, which bills residents directly. Hair care is fee-for-service and billed to the resident’s account.
