Rosewood Manor

Residents who need 24-hour nursing support or intermediate or complex care are eligible to live at Rosewood Manor.

Care is flexible and responds to individual needs as they arise rather than following a fixed schedule, and the home supports aging in place so residents can stay as long as they need its care.

Staff are trained in dementia care, and the home follows the DementiAbility philosophy, a person-centered approach that adapts care using details about each resident's past and present.

The Special Care Unit has 36 beds for people who may need further assistance and safety measures.

Publicly funded admissions are handled by Vancouver Coastal Health's Priority Access Team, while privately funded admissions are managed through a waitlist kept by Rosewood Manor.

All rooms are private and each has a two-piece ensuite bathroom.

Rooms are furnished with an electric bed, a dresser, a nightstand with a lockable drawer, a table and a chair, and residents are encouraged to decorate with personal photos and artwork.

Personalized care services, scheduled transportation and daily housekeeping are provided.

There are no restrictions on visiting hours. Visitors may not stay overnight except in cases such as end of life or critical illness, and leashed, well-behaved pets may visit.

A registered dietitian is available twice a week, on Wednesdays and Fridays, for swallowing assessments, nutritional assessments and diet recommendations.

The menu follows a four-week cycle and is adjusted for seasonally available foods and for traditional and special events.

Recreation programs run seven days a week and include exercise, sensory programs, competitive games, outdoor activities, special teas, luncheons, crafts, art, discussion groups, nail care, entertainment, baking, gardening and inter-generational programs.

Recreation and music therapy are offered alongside quality-of-life programs, with separate calendars for the main building and the Special Care Unit.

Three enclosed outdoor courtyards are available to residents when the weather permits.

Prepared sensory environments in the home include games, tactile items, a coffee house, a spa, music, sensory walls and art.

Rosewood Manor is at 6260 Blundell Road in Richmond, British Columbia. Two hours of free parking is available at the front lot along Blundell Road, with pay parking at the rear.
