Care & support
Long-term care is for people with complex, unpredictable medical needs who are unable to remain at home or in a supportive living setting.
An RN Care Leader oversees resident care and leads an interdisciplinary team. At Glen Oaks, the team includes registered nurses, registered practical nurses, personal support workers, occupational and physiotherapists, recreational therapists, dietitians, social workers and physicians.
Staff can help with morning and evening routines, including meals, bathing and medication management.
Care plans and programs are tailored to accommodate residents’ varying health needs.
Services obtained through community partners include pharmacy, laboratory, dentistry, denturist services, optometry, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, foot care, hospital and diagnostic services.
Rooms & living spaces
Residents have bright, private and basic suites; an air-conditioned room option is available.
The design includes wide hallways, handrails, bright barrier-free suites, accessible ensuite bathrooms and an emergency call system.
Everyday life
Rooms are cleaned weekly. Washrooms are cleaned daily or as needed throughout the day.
The community provides and launders bedding, linens and towels. Families can use a washer and dryer for personal items such as clothing.
Guests may visit at any time, day or night, and are encouraged to drop in. Visits can take place in a resident’s room or a lounge; family and guests may also join programs or events with their loved one.
Dining & meals
Food and Nutrition Managers, chefs and a dietitian plan menus with taste, nutrition, presentation and safety in mind.
Meals are prepared fresh daily, including homemade soups, baked goods and home-style options. Residents can eat in the dining room or have a meal served in their suite.
Residents have a choice of chef-prepared, nutritionally balanced meals three times a day, with beverages and snacks. Meals are plated and served in the dining rooms.
Food textures can be matched to chewing and swallowing abilities, and staff can help residents dine safely and comfortably.
Guests may join a resident for a meal. Families and friends can bring their own food or arrange for the kitchen to provide meals; meal tickets can be purchased at reception.
