Rockridge is a not-for-profit retirement community in a woodland setting just outside Northampton, Massachusetts. It opened in 1970 and offers independent living, assisted living and memory support. The 12-acre campus has apartments and cottages for independent living, and these homes are certified for assisted living services so residents can receive care without changing homes. More than 100 residents live at Rockridge, and the community serves seniors across a range of income levels.

Care & support
Assisted living is delivered through customized care packages developed with the resident, family and care team: Supportive, Supportive Plus and Ultra-Assistance, based on the help needed with bathing, dressing, grooming and escorts.
Memory support for residents with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia is provided in The Gardens, a short covered walk from the independent and assisted living neighborhoods.
Additional services available as needed include medication management, personal care assistance, continence management, personal laundry and transportation.
The Meadows is designated as a Level IV Rest Home for seniors who need limited assistance.
Rooms & living spaces
Independent living is offered in apartments and cottages. The Violette's Crossing neighborhood has independent living apartments for seniors 62 and older.
Residences have individually controlled heat and air conditioning, and maintenance is handled for residents, including plumbing, electrical, appliances and flooring. Small pets are welcome with a deposit.
Dining & meals
Each neighborhood has its own dining room. Menus are shaped by residents through monthly menu planning meetings, and about 95% of ingredients are locally sourced.
Soups, sauces, stocks and salsa are made from scratch, and a baker prepares fresh desserts daily. Seafood is delivered fresh from the Boston pier, and produce comes from a nearby farm and the campus garden.
The kitchen builds detailed resident profiles of nutritional needs and likes and dislikes, and prepares meals individually to match. Specialty and international menus and events are also held.
Activities & connection
Resident-driven programs include lifelong learning, games, the arts, group exercise classes and musical events, along with trips to local attractions.
Residents also take part in resident-run programs in art and creative writing, and visit museums and concerts in Northampton.
Shared spaces & amenities
Campus amenities include a library, a fitness room, outdoor walking trails, landscaped gardens, billiard tables, home theater systems and an on-site beauty salon and barbershop.
Enclosed walkways connect all buildings, and the campus is nonsmoking. A laundry room is available.
