Memory care takes a person-centred approach. Staff learn each resident's history, values and likes and dislikes, and work with families to build a personalized care plan.

The memory care program includes 24-hour supervision, high resident-to-staff ratios, specialized life-enrichment programming and person-centred care plans.

Memory living suites include assistance with morning and evening routines, bathing, compression stockings and medication management, along with an on-site nurse, an emergency response system and daily reminders.

Long term care provides 24/7 nursing support with mobility and transfers, medication management and continence care. Admission begins with a wellness assessment by the Director of Care.

Families can drop by to speak with the General Manager or Director of Care, who keep an open-door policy and provide updates on residents.

The residence is near Nanaimo Regional General Hospital and the Caledonian Clinic.

The care residence has accessible studio suites. Memory living suites include utilities, an individual thermostat, in-suite air conditioning, weekly housekeeping, weekly linen service, personal laundry and in-suite mail delivery.

Services include housekeeping and laundry, transportation to medical appointments and group outings, and flexible routines that balance structure with spontaneity.

Residents have three Dietician-approved meals a day, cooked from scratch with seasonal and fresh ingredients, plus snacks, and individual dietary needs are catered to.

Care Aides help residents who need assistance at mealtimes, encouraging independence, and meals are meant to be a social occasion with friends, family and staff.

Activities include light exercise, arts and crafts workshops, musical entertainment, hymn singing, church services and music therapy for residents living with dementia.

The residence organizes scenic bus trips, small group trips to restaurants or parks, and one-on-one experiences for residents with a specific interest.

Amenity spaces include lounges on each floor, a rooftop patio with planters and umbrellas, a hair salon with weekly visits from a foot care specialist, and landscaped walking paths and gardens.

The residence is across the street from Nanaimo North Shopping Centre, so residents and families can go out for lunch or shopping.
