CHSLD Résidence Riviera

Residents are cared for by an interdisciplinary team. The residence has a nutritionist, an occupational therapist, a physiotherapy technologist, a social worker, a spiritual care worker and a nurse specializing in foot care.

Residents can choose the gender of the employee who helps with personal hygiene, as well as their own bedtime and wake-up time. The residence also reviews its use of physical restraints, with training for all staff.

Admission to a CHSLD is by referral from the local CLSC, which assesses the level of loss of autonomy.

A nutritionist visits every resident on admission and is on site three days a week. The nutrition service plans appropriate meals that take account of menu choices, tastes, dislikes and dietary or texture restrictions, and follows each resident's nutrition treatment plan.

A recreation specialist and assistants are on site six days a week. Activities fall into five categories, including physical, intellectual, social, creative and entertainment, and each resident has at least one leisure activity in their care plan.

Activity groups are organized separately for residents who are autonomous, non-autonomous or bedridden. A foundation supported by families and volunteers raises funds for resident activities and leisure.
