Care & support
Nursing staff are on duty 24 hours a day, supported by a professional interdisciplinary health care team that includes a dietitian, occupational therapists and physiotherapists.
Each resident receives individualized assessment and care planning. Services also include a palliative approach to care, pain and symptom management, and spiritual services.
A dedicated neighbourhood for young adults offers specialized care, services, programs and activities suited to a younger age group.
Rooms & living spaces
Rooms are fully furnished single and double rooms with private or semi-private washrooms, and wheelchair accessible rooms are available. Residents can add their own decorations.
Rooms include a 24-hour emergency call system. Housekeeping and laundry service is provided, and telephone and cable service is optional.
Dining & meals
Meals are developed and prepared by a team of chefs and cooks at the Culinary Centre in Halifax, with menus designed to include fresh, seasonal and local products where possible.
Dietitians complete a nutritional assessment with each resident to understand dietary requirements, allergies, sensitivities and food preferences.
Activities & connection
Recreation staff get to know each resident and design activities around their hobbies and interests, using a wellness approach that spans six dimensions: physical, intellectual, social, vocational, emotional and spiritual.
Programs include musical entertainment, garden and horticultural activities, community and cultural events, holiday celebrations, intergenerational and volunteer programs, and friendly pet visits.
A Resident Council and a Family Council are part of life at Arborstone.
