Kimwell Nursing and Rehabilitation

Clinical departments, including nursing, social services, dietary and recreation, assess residents within the first week and periodically afterward. Clinicians develop an individualized care plan addressing medical needs and details such as preferred shower times, food preferences and recreational interests.

In-house rehabilitation includes physical and occupational therapy, as well as speech and language pathology. Kimwell also works with primary care physicians, specialists, nurse practitioners and a medical director on residents’ healthcare needs.

For short-term care, the team works with residents toward their goals and greater independence, with the aim of returning to their community.

Each room has a cable and flat-screen TV. Bedside telephones and air conditioning throughout the facility are also provided.

A dedicated admissions team works with residents and family members through the admission process. The team explains the steps involved, including coordination between care settings.

During a resident’s stay, Social Services maintains close contact with the resident and family. The team can also help arrange support and equipment for returning home and explore available resources.

A registered dietitian oversees menu planning and monitors residents’ nutritional intake. Meals are prepared individually, with three balanced meals daily; the food services director tailors meals to residents’ dietary requirements.

Dining events include holiday meals shared with family, dine-out programs and summertime barbecues.

Residents have a full schedule of recreational activities, including musical entertainers and weekly dog-therapy visits.

An outdoor patio is available for residents to spend time outside.

Other conveniences include complimentary wireless internet, large dayrooms, newspaper delivery, an on-site beauty salon and on-site laundry service.
