Care & support
Long-term care support includes medication and symptom management, personal care, help with mobility and transfers, nutritional and mealtime support, housekeeping and laundry, and advance care planning and end-of-life care.
The interdisciplinary team includes nurses, care aides, physicians, pharmacists, physiotherapists, dietitians and engagement staff, and care planning is carried out with the resident, family and team.
Transitional care helps adults recover and rehabilitate in a non-hospital setting before going home, with a nurse assessment before admission, a personalized care plan, discharge planning and an average stay of 14 to 45 days.
Respite care offers short-term stays that give caregivers a break, from an overnight stay up to six weeks, and can also be a way to try long-term care.
Hospice palliative care is offered in partnership with the Campbell River Hospice Society and includes counselling, pet therapy, music therapy, and relaxation therapies such as reflexology and reiki.

Long-term care residents live in small, private rooms.
The Sunrise Community has 20 single rooms for transitional, respite and long-term care. Each room has a small washroom and shower, an electric bed, an overhead ceiling lift, an armoire, a dresser and a TV with cable and free Wi-Fi.
Hospice palliative care is provided in one-bedroom self-contained suites with a kitchen, in-suite laundry, an accessible bathroom with a wheelchair-accessible shower, a small patio and a separate entrance for visitors. Pets are welcome with approval.
