Wellington Park Care Centre

Physiotherapy, occupational therapy and nursing restorative therapy are available. Each new resident is assessed soon after admission to determine an appropriate physiotherapy regime.

Specialized programs cover skin care and wound management, fall risk assessment, responsive behaviours, continence management, and palliative and end of life care.

The fall risk program assesses contributing factors for each resident and evaluates how well each resident's individual plan is working.

In-home clinics include dental, dermatology, audiology, optometry, advanced foot care and psychiatry, along with mobility and seating assessments. Social work services include supportive counseling and discussion groups.

On-site laundry services and daily housekeeping are provided.

Residents are offered three home-cooked meals each day, with snacks and refreshments at any time. Two entrees are available at each meal, and a salad and sandwich is offered if neither appeals.

On-site Registered Dietitians evaluate nutritional status and help plan special meals, and the dietary team prepares familiar foods for the home's cultural diversity whenever possible.

Options include fitness activities, volunteer programs, music clubs and therapy, horticultural programs, multi-faith spiritual services, visiting pets, art, library services, cultural and community events, and holiday celebrations.

Programs help residents with dementia to rediscover old skills, and scent therapy from Smelling Pink is part of care for people with dementia and cognitive challenges.

In the Giving Garden program, culinary team members and residents plant and harvest vegetables and herbs, which are used in scent and texture identification and turned into food for residents and the local community.
