Care & support

An interdisciplinary team supports palliative and end-of-life care, including nurses, personal support workers, dietary staff, physicians, nurse practitioners, social workers, physiotherapists, recreational therapists and spiritual care ministers.

Families are kept informed and involved. A comfort cart is placed at the bedside during end-of-life care, and a cot is available for family members who wish to stay close.

Spiritual care is provided from a Christian perspective, with space and respect for residents' personal spiritual beliefs.

Services include laundry, physiotherapy, cable, an in-house hair stylist and podiatry. On admission, a nurse completes the process and a 24-hour care plan is established.

Rooms & living spaces

Basic (shared) and private rooms are available. Shared suites have two beds separated by a partition or curtain and one shared washroom, and private suites have one bed and a private washroom.

All rooms are furnished with a bed, mattress, dresser, wardrobe, nightstand and lounge chair, and have air conditioning. Bed linens are provided, and residents are encouraged to personalize their rooms.

Everyday life

Placement is arranged through Ontario Health atHome - Burlington. Once an offer is received, admission is arranged on a weekday morning so the new resident and family can meet the team.

Activities & connection

The Recreation Department offers programs for residents' social, intellectual, physical and spiritual needs, including Montessori programming, restorative exercises, BBQs and socials, live entertainment and Burlington Humane Society pet visits.

Monthly program calendars are issued for each wing of the home: Evergreen, Oakwood, Cedarview and Maplewood. Families are welcome to participate.
