Care & support

Residents receive 24-hour physician access and skilled nursing care when needed, and the ECMC hospital is right next door in the event of a serious illness or emergency.

Services include palliative care, subacute rehabilitation, physical, occupational, speech and recreational therapy, and social work and discharge planning.

Conditions regularly treated include dementia, Alzheimer's disease, stroke trauma, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders such as multiple sclerosis, and orthopedic conditions during post-surgical management.

The subacute rehabilitation unit has physiatrists, registered nurses, physical and occupational therapists, speech pathologists and social workers, plus a practice bedroom, kitchen and bathroom, portable stairs and parallel bars.

Rooms & living spaces

Small-scale neighborhoods house 16 to 24 residents each, with a living room, fireplace, kitchen and dining rooms.

Each resident room includes a bathroom, a flat-screen television and a telephone for a nominal fee. Wi-fi is available, and each neighborhood has resident computers.

Accommodations are available for family visitors or caregivers who would like to stay overnight.

Shared spaces include a common room with a grand piano, a fireplace area, a quiet chapel for solitude and worship, a gift shop and a communal area with a vintage jukebox.

Outdoor spaces include a courtyard where residents can walk outdoors, outdoor terraces near each unit and an indoor terrace lounge on every floor.
